Former City Comptroller Scott Stringer raises $1M in mayoral bid

CITYWIDE — FORMER CITY COMPTROLLER SCOTT STRINGER, a mayoral candidate, raised more than $1 million, his campaign office announced on Wednesday. The lifelong New Yorker and Democrat, who was Comptroller from 2014 to 2020, Manhattan Borough President and assemblymember for the 67th Assembly District, has raised $1,009,000 for his mayoral exploratory committee since October via the use of the city’s public matching funds program. During the most recent reporting period, Stringer has raised $197,971 in pre-matching funds, $101,502 in matchable funds; and a total $1,009,987 with matching funds. The average contribution per donor is $149. During the full course of his campaign exploration, which he launched on Jan. 1, 2024, his total cash raised was $789,217, of which $ 402,117 was matchable. His total raised matchable funds over the past year and two weeks is $4.1 million. The total number of donors to date is 3,779. The average contribution during that same period is $133.

One of Stringer’s potential opponents, current State Sen. Zellnor Myrie (D-20) announced on Tuesday, Jan. 14 that he has raised $3 million and thus qualifies for matching funds. Myrie, who represents parts of central Brooklyn, has prioritized affordable housing in his campaign.
