Fire on New Jersey Avenue in East New York

EAST NEW YORK — A THREE-STORY apartment building at 520 New Jersey Avenue in East New York caught on fire Saturday night, according to local media and Citizen. FDNY confirmed the fire at roughly 10:00 p.m., and managed to extinguish it within an hour. The blaze left two people with minor injuries and six displaced, including a child; the Red Cross is providing residents with temporary housing. The following morning, National Grid gas workers were seen outside the building by News 12, along with apparent downed cables on the ground. The FDNY is investigating the cause of the incident.

Video footage from News 12 shows that windows on the top floor of the building were blown out, with visible heavy damage to the ceilings.
