
Applications open for Community Education Councils

CITYWIDE – APPLICATIONS OPENED ON Monday for spots on the city’s Community Education Councils, advisory boards that determine school zone boundaries and give parental input on educational policy. There are 32 separate boards for each pre-K through 8th grade school district, as well as four citywide boards covering the city’s high schools, English language-learning programs, special education, and District 75 special needs. Applicants must be parents with children currently attending a school or program governed by the council in question. The Department of Education is accepting applications until Feb. 16.
