Vigil held for Debrina Kawam, Coney Island fire victim

CONEY ISLAND — A MEMORIAL WAS HELD on Sunday at First Baptist Church in Sheepshead Bay for Debrina Kawam, the victim of a December arson attack on a Coney Island F train. Residents emphasized their compassion for Kawam, and were surprised at the shocking contrast between her youthful, vibrant years and her tragic demise. According to CBS News New York, clergy members from First Baptist will begin patrolling the subways with the Guardian Angels.
“This is still a chilling moment, a frightening moment, a panic moment, a traumatizing moment,” said Bishop Boyde Singletary of First Baptist Church of Sheepshead Bay. “We pray for her soul to rest in peace.”
