CLINTON HILL — THE CITY GOVERNMENT PLANS TO CLOSE the migrant mega-shelter at 47 Hall Street in Clinton Hill by June 2025, according to city officials. The shelter, which has housed up to 3,350 migrants at times, has been a source of community concerns regarding safety and sanitation.

This closure is part of a broader initiative to shut down 46 migrant shelters across the city by June, reducing capacity by approximately 10,000 beds, according to Gothamist. The decision follows a 27-week decline in new migrant arrivals, bringing the current number of migrants in city shelters to about 50,900. A shelter camp at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn also closed this weekend.

Mayor Eric Adams stated that the closures reflect the city’s progress in managing the humanitarian crisis and efforts to help migrants achieve self-sufficiency.
