WILLIAMSBURG — TENANTS AT 156 SOUTH 9TH STREET are taking their landlords to housing court over squalid conditions, report Greenpointers and ABC7. And on Tuesday night, the building’s Tenants Association held a rally asking the city to seize the building from the landlords. Violations at the property number 396, with over 520 complaints over the last two years. The most prominent complaints over the last three years are pest-related, but also include problems with mold and raw sewage, among many other issues. The landlords, Hindy and Jacob Meislik of South Nine Realty of Monsey, claimed to ABC that the tenants were satisfied with the condition of their apartments.

“This guy doesn’t want to spend money on this building. He got us to live like dogs and cats here,” one tenant told ABC7. “If you want to fix something, you have to put your hands in your pocket, buy the part and put it on yourself. That’s not fair to us.”
