BUSHWICK — TENANTS AT THE HYLAN HOUSES AT 131 MOORE ST. in Bushwick are split on how to fund capital repairs that would cost $90 million, reports City Limits: joining the city’s Public Housing Preservation Trust, or converting to private management under the Permanent Affordability Commitment Together initiative. Votes were split 83 to 83 at a December meeting, with nine votes to remain under their current system.

The Trust would convert Hylan Houses from federally funded Section 9 housing to Project Section 8 housing, allowing bonds to be issued for repairs. PACT enacts the same Section 8 Project classification with bond funding, but instead taps private management to take over repairs and operations.

Another vote will decide the fate of Hylan Houses, beginning Feb. 27 and extending to March 27.
