WILLIAMSBURG — A FIRE BROKE OUT AT BROADWAY and Walton Street just before 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, burning down the popular Rocky’s Deli at 590 Broadway, reports ABC News. The three-story building also housed tenants, who escaped the blaze without injury. 130 personnel were dispatched to the location, and the fire was extinguished later in the morning – with great difficulty, due to winds and cold temperatures, according to the FDNY. Locals say the deli had many regulars, some of which spanned generations of the same family, and are hoping for a speedy reopening. The owner, who is from Yemen, is working with the Yemeni American Merchants Association on recovery.

“My mom took us here every morning, my daughters came here as well, so I have a couple of generations that came to the store and it’s so sad,” said Omahira Arce to ABC7 Eyewitness News.
