Early-morning burglar hits five businesses in Gravesend and Brighton Beach

GRAVESEND/BRIGHTON BEACH — THE POLICE ARE SEEKING the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection to five early-morning burglaries of commercial establishments — four in Gravesend and one in Brighton Beach — between Dec. 22, 2024 and Jan. 2, 2025. After forcing his way in, the thief made off with merchandise and cash. All the burglaries took place in the hours between 3:15 – 5:20 a.m.

On Sunday, Dec. 22, the thief broke into a business near Avenue U and East 7th Street; soon after, that same morning, he hit an establishment a block away, near Avenue U and East 8th Street. On Tuesday, Dec. 31, the individual is suspected of forcibly entering an establishment near Brighton Beach Avenue and Brighton 5 Street. That same morning, he broke into a business near Avenue U and East 5th Street. Finally, on the morning of Thursday, Jan. 2, the thief forced his way into a business near Avenue X and East 1st Street, again escaping with merchandise and cash. No one was injured in these burglaries.
