Trump nominates Long Island judge for U.S. Attorney for EDNY

BROOKLYN & LONG ISLAND — PRESIDENT-ELECT DONALD TRUMP has tapped Nassau County District Court Judge Joseph Nocella Jr. as his pick for U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York (EDNY), Newsday reports. Nocella previously served as assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District from 1991 to 1995.

Nocella has served as Nassau County District Court Judge since 2022, and has served in multiple roles in Nassau County’s government, including as a town attorney for Hempstead and as counsel to the county executive and legislature from 2006 to 2008, as well as from 2010 to 2011. He was chosen for Nassau County District Judge in 2022.
