Police are searching for suspect in wild Sheepshead Bay carjacking, assault spree

SHEEPSHEAD BAY — THE NYPD IS SEARCHING for the suspect involved in four different assaults and armed carjackings in Sheepshead Bay on Monday night that sent two victims to the hospital with minor injuries, abc7ny reports. The incidents all occurred around East 17th Street and Avenue R. It started at 7:20 p.m., when the suspect injured the first victim, a 45-year-old man, by hitting him over the head with a weapon. Afterward, the suspect threatened a 70-year-old woman with a firearm and stole her purse, injuring her leg. Then, the man carjacked at gunpoint a Mercedes belonging to a 26-year-old man, drove the wrong way on Avenue R and crashed into numerous vehicles. Finally, the suspect attempted to operate a vehicle belonging to a 40-year-old woman, then fled. 

The investigation remains ongoing, abc7ny reports. The NYPD describes the suspect as a man in his twenties with a ski mask, medium build and long hair.
