FORT GREENE — A 17-YEAR-OLD walking to school was shot outside Brooklyn’s Dr. Susan S. McKinney School of the Arts in Fort Greene at around 8:30 a.m. Thursday. The teen ran into the middle school seeking help from staff, and is expected to survive. He is currently being treated at a local hospital, reports PIX News.

In a statement, the Department of Education called the event “concerning” and emphasized its gratitude to “dedicated school staff and NYPD School Safety Agents who provided critical support to this young person after they sought help at the school.”
