R trains in Brooklyn to be disrupted in January
BAY RIDGE – SERVICE ON THE R train is set to be disrupted on two weekends in January due to maintenance work, reports Gothamist. The MTA on Thursday announced that there will be no train service between 36 Street and 95 Street from 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3 through 5 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, as well as from 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10 to 5 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13. Free shuttle buses will be making stops at affected stations during these times.
Late-night service on the Brooklyn segment of the R line will also be halted during the entire two-week period, from Jan. 3 to Jan. 17, with the exception of the segment between 59 Street and 95 Street, where the R train will run on weeknights. The D, N and Q trains will still be running. Impacted riders can find a full list of service changes and alternatives online, on the MTA’s website.
