Community aids Bed-Stuy resident displaced after Christmas Day fire
BED-STUY — A BED-STUY RESIDENT has been displaced by a fire in her apartment building, and she remains unsure of what is to come – but says her local community has been priceless. Morgan Frazier was visiting her family in Detroit, Michigan, when she received a phone call on Christmas about the fire, which began in a vacant unit above her own and forced the evacuation of the entire building. The Red Cross has provided her with temporary housing, while a fundraiser for Frazier has raised over $11,000 as of Thursday, Jan. 2.
“Everyone has been giving me so much support that I don’t feel alone,” said Frazier to News 12 Brooklyn. “My phone has been blowing up – I don’t feel alone in this process.”
The cause of the fire has not been determined by FDNY.
