Brooklyn panhandler struck by driver, harrowingly dragged half a mile by vehicle
BROOKLYN — A PANHANDLER WAS struck by a white Audi near the intersection of Caton and Flatbush avenues around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, then was dragged for half a mile before falling in the street near Linden Boulevard and Nostrand Avenue, say the NYPD. The victim, Michael Foster, 64, died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, and fled; police are investigating.
Foster had been begging for change from drivers at the intersection that night, according to his building’s super, as reported by the New York Daily News. Foster’s roommate, John Isdore, 54, indicated that he was in rehabilitation from substance abuse and that he “kept to himself and he didn’t have any family.”
