FDNY rescues residents, dog from Midwood fire
MIDWOOD — THE FDNY RESCUED two residents and a dog from a fourth-floor fire at 1233 East 19th Street in Midwood late Monday morning. One resident was found inside their apartment semiconscious and brought to a local hospital, while another suffered only minor injuries, according to the FDNY. The dog, who was “in good spirits,” according to the Brooklyn Paper, was brought out to the sidewalk to wait for its owner. The blaze broke out around 11:30 a.m. and was under control right after noon.
The large apartment building has 20 open violations, including for missing carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors, according to the city Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
