CITYWIDE — THE MINIMUM WAGE for most workers in New York City will soon increase to $16.50 an hour, up from $16.00 currently, Gothamist reports. The raise goes into effect on New Years Day, Jan. 1, 2025. Another 50 cent raise kicks in at the start of 2026. Beginning in 2027, the rate will increase based roughly on the federal Consumer Price Index.

Minimum wage is based on a different formula for workers who receive tips and depends on several factors, Gothamist said.
