Hochul nixes congestion pricing surcharges on Gridlock Alert days
STATEWIDE — GOV. KATHY HOCHUL notified MTA that the agency will not be allowed to “surge” the normal congestion pricing fee of $9 by 25% on Gridlock Alert days, abc7ny reported Thursday. MTA had previously stated it “reserves the right to charge an extra 25%” on these extra-busy days. “We have spoken to the MTA and made it clear: under no circumstances will I allow this discretionary 25% surcharge on gridlock days to be used,” Hochul said.
NYC DOT identified 20 Gridlock Alert days this year, with 11 in December.
