Brooklyn Bar Association seeks volunteer attorneys for legal clinic
The Brooklyn Bar Association is seeking attorneys to volunteer for a free legal clinic on Jan. 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The clinic, organized in partnership with Antioch Baptist Church, the Metropolitan Black Bar Association and local leaders including Sen. Roxanne Persaud, Councilmember Mercedes Narcisse and past president Hon. Frank Seddio, aims to provide vital legal information to underserved members of the community.
Volunteer attorneys are needed in the following practice areas: estate planning, landlord/tenant (residential and commercial), immigration, civil/small claims, consumer debt, elder law/guardianship, criminal law, family/matrimonial law, business and foreclosure. Attorneys interested in contributing their expertise can contact the Brooklyn Bar Association to sign up and support this important initiative.
Attorneys practicing in fields such as estate planning, landlord/tenant law, immigration and family law have unique opportunities to support the Brooklyn community by volunteering their time and expertise. They can help individuals secure their futures through wills and trusts, advise tenants and landlords who are navigating housing disputes, and provide guidance to immigrants who are seeking legal residency or asylum. These efforts not only address immediate legal concerns, but also empower individuals to make informed decisions about their lives.
Lawyers specializing in areas like consumer debt, small business matters and foreclosure can also make a significant impact. By offering advice on managing debt, supporting local entrepreneurs with legal compliance, or helping homeowners who are facing foreclosure, they can stabilize lives and protect livelihoods. Whether assisting seniors with guardianship issues or advising families in custody disputes, attorneys can play a crucial role in building a stronger, more resilient community in Brooklyn.
