Christmas Eve fire injures resident and firefighter

GREENPOINT — AROUND 4:30 A.M. on Christmas Eve, an apartment building’s second floor caught fire on Greenpoint Avenue, reports ABC News. A resident in the building was seriously injured as a result of the blaze, and was transported to a local hospital. A fireman was also injured in the recovery effort. The cause of the fire is under investigation by FDNY.

Another fire took place in Bay Ridge on Shore Road Lane the same day, in an unoccupied house that caught fire some time earlier around 3:15 a.m. No injuries were reported at this location.
