Brooklyn’s largest menorah lights up on first day of Hanukkah
GRAND ARMY PLAZA/PROSPECT PARK — THE LARGEST MENORAH IN BROOKLYN kicked off its annual Chanukah celebrations at Grand Army Plaza on Wednesday, Dec. 25, with a festive concert at 4 p.m. Thousands of attendees, both Jewish and non-Jewish, gathered to celebrate the holiday with live music and latkes. Rabbi Shimon Hecht, joined by community leaders, philanthropists and guests, used a 60-foot boom lift to light the towering menorah, a Brooklyn landmark since 1985.
Lighting ceremonies continue nightly throughout Chanukah, culminating with the eighth night on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, at 6 p.m.
