Police investigating Canarsie stabbing that killed mom, injured son
CANARSIE — THE NYPD IS INVESTIGATING a Sunday stabbing in Canarsie that took the life of 47-year-old mother Antoinette Stewart-Gordon and left her 15-year-old son injured. Sources said the stabbing may have been the result of a domestic disturbance.
Authorities responded to a distress call at 9:28 p.m. Sunday at a residence on East 81st Street, according to the NYPD. Officers discovered Stewart-Gordon suffering from multiple stab wounds to her neck and abdomen. Her son was found with a hand laceration. Both victims were rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where Stewart-Gordon was pronounced dead and where her son is being treated.
Councilmember Mercedes Narcisse, who represents the area, says she is making an effort to contact the family of the victims, who live in Jamaica, reports News 12 Brooklyn. “Whatever help we can provide to help the family stay together. I spoke with an officer from the 69th Precinct – they are on the case – they will follow up with me to see how we can support that young man. He is only 15 years old,” Narcisse told News 12.
An investigation is underway. No arrests have been made as of Dec. 24.
