Historic day at the Appellate Division, Second Department

The Appellate Division, Second Department held oral arguments with a panel that, for the first time in its history, included two Asian-American justices. 

Justices Lillian Wan and Phillip Hom joined Justices Mark Dillon and Robert Miller to form the historic panel, marking a significant step forward in diversity and representation within the judiciary. 

Justice Wan had been appointed to the Appellate Division in 2022 by Gov. Kathy Hochul/Justice Hom, appointed by Gov. Hochul in 2024, came from Queens County Supreme Court. Retired Justice Randal Eng, the first Asian-American presiding justice of the Second Department, was also present to honor the occasion.
