Flight delays nationwide after morning grounding of American Airlines
NATIONWIDE – AIRPORTS ACROSS THE country experienced significant upheaval on Christmas Eve, following a grounding of all American Airlines flights between 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. over a “vendor technology issue,” reports the New York Post. More than 700 flights around the country, including nearly 150 from NYC’s three major airports, were experiencing delays on Monday morning, during the tail end of the busy pre-Christmas travel period, according to FlightAware.
“That issue has been resolved and flights have resumed. We sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience this morning. It’s all hands on deck as our team is working diligently to get customers where they need to go as quickly as possible,” American Airlines later said.
