NY Blood Center encourages donations with holiday gifts

CITYWIDE — IT’S THE SLOW SEASON for blood donations, so this month the New York Blood Center will be playing Santa Claus by giving donors either a festive pair of socks or a beanie as a thank-you for their gift of blood. Between holiday travel, school breaks and seasonal illnesses, blood donations typically decline 20-30% during the last week of December, even though the need for blood remains constant, NYBC said Thursday.

This holiday promotion will be available from Dec. 21, 2024 – Jan. 3, 2025 at all of NYBC’s donor centers and community blood drives. To make an appointment, call 1-800-933-2566 or visit nybc.org.
