BED-STUY — A SCHOOL PARAPROFESSIONAL, LUIS BENALCAZAR, 75, has been arrested and accused of shoving a 14-year-old student who was allegedly misbehaving on Monday at P.S. 373, the Brooklyn Transition Center, according to local police and the New York Post. The boy then fell down a staircase. The student was treated at the scene of the incident and later refused medical attention. The teaching assistant has been suspended, and the Department of Education says they will terminate him if he is convicted.

A spokesperson for DOE said in a statement that Benalcazar’s alleged behavior was “completely unacceptable.”
