CITYWIDE — ALL THREE NYC PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEMS — the New York Public Library, Brooklyn Public Library and Queens Public Library — unveiled on Wednesday their individual top checkouts for 2024 and compiled the top checkouts citywide. Across the city, “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow” by Gabrielle Zevin was the most checked-out title of the year, followed by “Happy Place” by Emily Henry and “Fourth Wing” by Rebecca Yarros. (These same titles also topped the popularity list in Brooklyn, but with “Happy Place” first.)

Meanwhile, Brooklyn’s young adult readers have their own favorite author — Sarah J. Mass, who wrote all three top YA checkouts: “A Court of Thorns and Roses;” “Throne of Glass” and “Crown of Midnight.” The hashtag for her “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series has several billion views on TikTok, her publisher says.

The top three most checked-out books for younger kids this year were “Diary of A Wimpy Kid: No Brainer” by Jeff Kinney; “Cat Kid Comic Club #5: Influencers” by Dav Pilkey with Jose Garibaldi & Wes Dzioba; and “Dog Man: Unleashed” by Dav Pilkey. All the top checkouts can be found at NYPL’s website.
