BROOKLYN — GOV. KATHY HOCHUL and The Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Tuesday announced bus service enhancements on 24 routes across the city, including in Brooklyn on the following lines:

  • B17 (Crown Heights-Canarsie)
  • B26 (Fulton St-Ridgewood)
  • B74 (Sea Gate-Stillwell Avenue Station)
  • B103 (Canarsie-Downtown Brooklyn)
  • BM2 (Canarsie-Avenue H-Midtown/Downtown)
  • BM5 (Spring Creek-Linden Blvd-Woodhaven Blvd-Midtown)
  • X27 (Bay Ridge-Midtown/Downtown)

The enhancements will cost about $8 million in 2025, paid through the Borough Transportation Account, Hochul’s office said, and will be implemented this spring. Brooklyn’s impending bus improvements were decided upon before the congestion pricing delay earlier this year.

Also announced on Tuesday, the Q98 route will complement transit connections on the Brooklyn-Queens border. This amended route will provide access to Brooklyn and the 7, L, M and R trains, as well as enhanced connectivity to Flushing, Ridgewood and the Flushing-Main Street LIRR station.

“Buses are the engine of equity in our city – connecting New Yorkers in working and middle class areas to jobs, education, shopping, and everything the city has to offer,” said MTA CEO Janno Lieber on Tuesday, Dec. 17.  “As we continue to address the scourge of traffic congestion – especially the economic, environmental, and safety impacts – the MTA continues to prioritize service for our bus riders.”
