MTA conductor praised for professionalism during F train shutdown
BROOKLYN — TERESA FOOTMAN, AN MTA conductor and newbie-extraordinaire, was lauded by Authority leadership on Monday for her role in keeping her passengers calm during the subway power loss chaos last Wednesday, reports the Daily News.
She repeatedly walked through the train, kept riders informed and checked in with anxious passengers during the troubling two-and-a-half hours; passengers sent the conductor’s efforts viral on social media. Footman was in charge of one of two trains stuck in Brooklyn after the State Street substation explosion, and has been on the job for only 15 months.
“We are trained that after so many minutes have passed, you do have to walk through the train – to make sure everyone is safe and to make sure they heard your announcements,” Footman said at a press event on Monday, Dec. 16. “So that’s what I did.”
