INDIA — Leaping celebration — sometimes it’s about wars: Indian army soldiers perform Kalari Payattu, a traditional exercise in Kolkata, India, Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, during the military tattoo celebrating the victory day, marking India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war to liberate Bangladesh. Kalaripayattu, also commonly shortened to Kalari, is believed to be the oldest surviving martial art in India, with a history spanning over three millennia.
This martial art is named after the region of India where it originated: modern-day Kerala on the Malabar coast of southwestern India.
CALIFORNIA — Acrobatics and good hands, violent collision is yet to come: Los Angeles Chargers tight end Stone Smartt (84) makes a catch during the first half of an NFL football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024, in Inglewood, California. The Buccaneers, first in the NFC South, won 40-17.
The Buccaneers’ performance was strong, with quarterback Baker Mayfield contributing some huge plays, reports The New York Times.
Mayfield threw three of his four touchdown passes in the second half. Bolstering these plays was the Buccaneers’ shutout defense during the final two quarters.

SOMOS, named for the first-person plural verb translated as “we are,” defines itself as a social movement that began during the pandemic to help eradicate hunger and poverty. Its website language is Portuguese, which is Brazil’s official language.

Chinyelu, born in Enugu, Nigeria, is currently a sophomore at the University of Florida. Standing at 6’11,” he attended the NBA Academy Africa and competed in the 2022 NBA Academy Games, where he led that team to a first-place finish.
MANHATTAN — As powerful a Christmas tradition as the Rockefeller tree and Santa himself — it’s spectacular! Radio City Rockettes perform the Parade of the Wooden Soldiers dance during the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, in New York. Now a New York City tradition, the Christmas Spectacular was first presented on Dec. 21, 1933, a year after Radio City Music Hall opened. The industrial magnate and Standard Oil founder John D. Rockefeller and Samuel “Roxy” Rothafel collaborated on the opening of Radio City in 1932 to boost people and entertainment during the Great Depression.
Rockefeller Center, the commercial complex where Radio City makes its home, is named for the family of industrialists. John D. Rockefeller Jr.’s son, Nelson Rockefeller, was a longtime governor of New York and later vice president under President Gerald R. Ford.

However, the Army-Navy games will offer some stability, as CBS announced last week that they will broadcast the Army-Navy football game through 2038 with additional weekly programming airing on Paramount+ and CBS Sports Network.
