BUSHWICK — THE LANDMARKED FORMER WILLIAM ULMER BREWERY in Bushwick at 81 Beaver Street is being converted into mixed-use real estate, according to New York YIMBY. The building is being gutted of its 18th-century infrastructure, originally completed in 1872, but its exterior brick facades will be restored and repaired. The renovation is being designed by DXA Studio and is being developed by Rivington Company, who acquired it in 2017.

81 Beaver Street, designated a landmark in 2010 as the first brewery in the five boroughs to earn the status, was originally designed by German American architect Theobald Englehardt. The brewery was shuttered during Prohibition and served multiple purposes afterwards.
