PARK SLOPE – THIS YEAR’S NEW Year’s Eve fireworks show over Prospect Park has been canceled due to the ongoing drought conditions, but revelers shouldn’t be disappointed just yet – the Prospect Park Alliance is working on finalizing a plan to host a drone light show instead, reports News 12. ABC reports that the light show, if approved, would include formations in the shape of landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. The announcement comes as the park continues to work to recover from a fire last month that burned through two acres of the Ravine area, and to prevent further fire damage.

Fireworks have also been canceled in Central Park for the same reason, as the city remains under a fire alert.
