Prominent Brooklyn attorney Arthur Aidala possible candidate for U.S. Attorney
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — BROOKLYN NATIVE AND HIGH-PROFILE ATTORNEY ARTHUR AIDALA could become the next U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, the Daily News reported Wednesday night, Dec. 4. President-elect Donald Trump, who also pondered appointing Aidala for the same post during his first term in office, is reportedly again considering the politically-connected Aidala to be the federal attorney for Brooklyn.
Aidala, 57, who has had high-profile clients from both major political parties, brings prosecutorial experience from his years as a senior assistant district attorney in the Kings County District Attorney’s office. He has 25 years’ experience in the area of criminal law and is a sought-after defense attorney whose clients have included former Mayor Giuliani, NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, real estate developer Abe Hirshfeld, and Ingrid Lewis-Martin, a former adviser to Mayor Eric Adams.
He is Managing Partner of the Aidala, Bertuna & Kamins, PC law firm, which has offices in Dyker Heights, Manhattan and Southampton; and is a member of several attorney groups, including the Kings County District Attorneys Alumni Association, the Kings County Criminal Bar Association, Bay Ridge Lawyers Association, Catholic Lawyers Guild and Columbian Lawyers Association of Kings County and other Italian-American civic groups, according to his company website.
According to the Daily News and other local media sources, Aidala is a friend of former Adams adviser Frank Carone and is also representing Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, a friend of Carone, in a case involving financial dealings with a church he pastored within the Diocese of Brooklyn.
