NEW YORK CITY — AS POLICE STILL SEEK THE GUNMAN who fatally shot United Healthcare’s CEO, Brian Thompson on Wednesday, the NYPD is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. Posters announcing the reward are being placed around the city. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch urged the public to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS with any information. The award was announced in the wake of several persons near the site of the shooting who described a person thought to be the gunman. The suspect apparently arrived five minutes ahead of accosting Thompson. The suspect, described as wearing a “light brown or cream-colored jacket, a black face mask, black and white sneakers and a very distinctive gray backpack,” fled the scene on foot before boarding an electric CitiBike near West 55th Street and Sixth Avenue and was last seen cycling into Central Park via Center Drive, NYPD’s Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said during a press conference on Wednesday. The motive is still unclear as of press time.

Moreover, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has directed State Police to assist the NYPD, saying in a statement, “Our hearts are with the family and loved ones of Mr. Thompson, and we are committed to ensuring the perpetrator is brought to justice.”
