AMSTERDAM TO JFK AIRPORT — TWO DELTA AIRLINES FLIGHT ATTENDANTS scheduled for the same transatlantic trip were removed from the plane and fined after failing a breathalyzer test last Friday, the Daily News reported. The man and woman had been on layover in Amsterdam over the Thanksgiving holiday. The female flight attendant, whose name was not released, was ordered to pay a fine of €1,900 (U.S. $2,000) after she was found to be seven times over the legal alcohol limit for aircrew, with a 1.43 gram reading, Dutch police indicated in a statement. Her co-attendant was fined just €275 after he failed the breathalyzer test by just 0.02. Both flight attendants have, however, been suspended from their jobs and face possible termination. An airline spokesperson told reporters that “Delta’s alcohol policy is among the strictest in the industry and we have zero tolerance for violation.”

The arrests were part of a major joint exercise by local and national police at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, in which 445 pilots and flight attendants were breathalyzed within a three-hour time frame on Friday morning.
