Police identify man killed in Kosciuszko pileup

GREENPOINT – POLICE HAVE NOW identified a man who died following a four-car pileup on the Kosciuszko Bridge last month as Shafiur Rahman, age 75, of Euless, Texas. The collision occurred on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, when, according to the NYPD, a GMC Sierra traveling westbound on the BQE struck a Honda HRV and a Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado then struck a Kia Sorrento. The operators and passengers of the vehicles remained on scene. 

EMS transported nine people involved in the crash to Elmhurst Hospital. The operators of the four vehicles, all adult men, survived in stable condition, as did four passengers, including an adult man, an adult woman, an 8-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy. Rahman, a passenger, was pronounced deceased at Elmhurst. 

Police are still investigating the incident.
