56-year-old woman beaten to death in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE — A 56-YEAR-OLD WOMAN was found beaten to death in an apartment at NYCHA’s Low Houses in Brownsville on Saturday, Nov. 16. Her death was officially deemed a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Nov. 25. Police said they responded to a 911 call around 8:30 a.m. to Sackman St. near Belmont Ave., where they found Idell Holloway, who lived within the same project but in a different building, unconscious and unresponsive. EMS transported her to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing, according to the NYPD.

An autopsy revealed she died from “massive blunt force injuries to her head and torso,” suffering bleeding on the brain and fractures to her pelvis and ribs, according to the Daily News. Her stunned relatives told the News they believe she was also thrown down the stairs.
