Jeffries secures $2 million for Jamaica Bay Greenway and B82 bus service
CANARSIE — HOUSE DEMOCRATIC LEADER HAKEEM JEFFRIES (NY-08) has secured $2 million in Community Project Funds, which includes $1 million for the Jamaica Bay Greenway to build out a missing segment of the city’s bike network, and another $1 million for the B82 Select Bus Service project to upgrade bus reliability and improve pedestrian safety along the route.
“The more that we can do to increase access to public transportation, to improve the bike riding experience and the pedestrian experience, the better it is as it relates to improving the quality of life of our residents here in Canarsie and Flatlands and beyond,” Jeffries said in a release Tuesday.
“These much sought after and competitive capital funds will provide for an enhanced connection from Canarsie to the Jamaica Bay Greenway, and will improve B82 SBS service for thousands of daily riders on one of Brooklyn’s busiest bus routes, serving Flatlands, Canarsie and beyond,” NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodríguez said.
