Water main break in Manhattan divides Brooklyn subway service
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN AND CONEY ISLAND — THE MTA’S A and D train service is running in two sections on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 27, with service suspended in most of Manhattan, due to a water main break at Central Park West and 103rd St., according to an alert that Notify NYC sent out around 3:30 p.m. While A train service was initially suspended in both directions between Jay Street in Downtown Brooklyn and West 168th St. the line is now running between Jay St. and Far Rockaway/Lefferts Blvd, according to an update from the MTA. D train service was also affected, with most trains running only a stretch of Brooklyn between the terminus at Stillwell Ave. in Coney Island and the 9th Ave./New Utrecht Ave. station near the Green-Wood Cemetery.
The Daily News reported that passengers had to be evacuated from the trains around the scene of the water main break, which affected the A,B,C and D lines. The MTA advised that people wishing to attend the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade’s balloon inflation instead use the IRT’s 1/2/3 line.
