Teaming with elected leaders, union carpenters give away 250 turkeys
BOROUGHWIDE — THE UNION CARPENTERS are among many groups running Thanksgiving food giveaways. Partnering with elected officials, The New York City & Vicinity District Council of Carpenters distributed 250 turkeys in Brooklyn in time for the holiday, in different locations around Brooklyn. The union and Assemblymember Nikki Lucas (D-60) teamed up with Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, Mylah Organization Inc and the Lions Club International to distribute 100 turkeys. Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn (D-42) teamed up with the union to give away another 100 turkeys. And the union teamed up with Councilmember Darlene Mealy to give away 50 turkeys in her district.
“Union carpenters take pride in not only building our city but also strengthening our communities,” stated New York City District Council of Carpenters Executive Secretary-Treasurer Joseph Geiger. “This Thanksgiving, we’re honored to provide support to families in need, ensuring everyone has a warm meal to share with their loved ones. Giving back to our communities is at the core of who we are as a union, and we remain committed to standing with our neighbors in times of need.”
