BOROUGH HALL — MORE THAN 120 HOUSES OF WORSHIP, community kitchens and other outreach organizations benefited from Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso’s annual Thanksgiving food distribution event, held last Friday, Nov. 22, outside of Borough Hall. Borough President Reynoso and his staff, in partnership with UA3, distributed more than 60,000 pounds of fresh produce, non-perishables and other food items to more than 120 Brooklyn houses of worship, community kitchens and other community-based organizations that address food insecurity and homelessness. Making this event possible was support from the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, the Met Council on Jewish Poverty, the Hunts Point Produce Market, the Hispanic Federation, Goya Foods, the National Supermarket Association and several corporate sponsors: Amazon, Delta Airlines, National Grid, Optimum, Ponce Bank and Thrivent Bank.
“At Met Council, we are proud to partner with Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso to ensure that families in need have a joyful Thanksgiving. We are providing thousands of turkeys to people in need this holiday season across New York, a testament to our commitment to alleviating hunger and supporting our community,” said David Greenfield, CEO of Met Council on Jewish Poverty, a major national Jewish non-profit with strong ties to Brooklyn. Greenfield is also a past City Councilmember.
