Flatbush family left flabbergasted with eight incorrect garbage bins
FLATBUSH — A FLATBUSH FAMILY was aided by News 12 this week, after a $450 order of Department of Sanitation-required new trash bins for their home and church went awry. The Riley family had ordered eight bins from manufacturer Otto NYC two months ago, but was delivered a shipment of random sizes, with none of the bins they selected. Weeks of futile communication between the Rileys, Otto and DSNY yielded no results, even as the bins filled the family’s living room to the edges, before Otto abruptly closed the case on Eleanor Riley last week – without resolving the complaint. Within hours of the news network contacting DSNY, however, the company had promised to fulfill the order, and by Tuesday had collected the incorrect bins and replaced them with the proper sizes at last.
“Thanksgiving is in a couple days – this is typically the space where you would put your table to host your guests,” said a News 12 reporter to Eleanor Riley, gesturing to the eight trash bins located inside of the Riley family parlor, prior to the update. “What are you going to do?”
Riley responded, “I literally do not know.”
