Brooklyn Gives on Giving Tuesday to benefit more than 250 nonprofits
BOROUGHWIDE — MORE THAN 250 local nonprofits are participating in Brooklyn Org’s Brooklyn Gives on GivingTuesday campaign. Donations will be accepted from now until Dec. 31. With a $100,000 matching fund opportunity, the Brooklyn Gives initiative aims to raise over $1 million to support community organizations.
Several associated events are planned: On Saturday, Nov. 30, Brooklyn Org will partner with Brooklyn Made store in Industry City, 52 35th St., for a special “Meet the Makers” event celebrating Small Business Saturday. On Monday, Dec. 2, from 5-7 p.m., Brooklyn Org will host a pre-Giving Tuesday happy hour at Somethin’ Else in Dekalb Market in Downtown Brooklyn. Brooklyn nonprofits will receive 10% of all proceeds.
Since its founding in 2009 as Brooklyn Community Foundation, Brooklyn Org has moved more than $125 million to nonprofits through its strategic grantmaking and Donor Advised Funds. To learn more, visit the website.
