Minivan runs over woman lying in the road in Brooklyn
NEW LOTS — A MINIVAN RAN OVER a woman lying in the road in New Lots on Wednesday, Nov. 20, around 6:09 p.m., sending the unidentified woman, who was later pronounced deceased, and the three occupants of the van to various hospitals. Police said they were alerted of a pedestrian struck at Pennsylvania Avenue, approximately 48 feet north of Riverdale Avenue. When they arrived on the scene, officers observed the woman with injuries to her head and torso lying in the roadway.
EMS transported her to Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased. Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that the woman was already lying in the road when she was struck by the 2023 Toyota minivan, traveling northbound on Pennsylvania Avenue. The 33-year-old male driver remained on the scene, police said.
EMS transported the driver and two male passengers, ages 31 and 29, to a local area hospital in stable condition. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.
