SUV crashes into East Flatbush businesses

EAST FLATBUSH — AN SUV SLAMMED into a pharmacy at the corner of 35th Street and Church Avenue in East Flatbush on Monday night, after taking out inventory displayed in front of a 99-cent store located on Church Ave., News12 reports. A furniture store next door was also affected by the out-of-control vehicle, and the owner lost approximately $800 worth of inventory. CCTV footage posted by News12 shows a 68-year-old woman jumping out of the way while the dark-colored Jeep Cherokee continued to careen down the sidewalk in front of the furniture store, finally crashing into the pharmacy.

The woman on the sidewalk suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized. The owner of the furniture store said he assisted the woman by giving her a pillow to lay her head on, adding that if he had been outside moments earlier, he could’ve been hit by the vehicle. Police told News12 that the driver was having a medical episode.
