Councilmember Zhuang co-sponsors Thanksgiving food giveaway

BENSONHURST — WEDNESDAY, NOV. 20, IS THE DEADLINE TO SIGN UP for a special Thanksgiving food giveaway for senior citizens co-sponsored by the Office of City Councilmember Susan Zhuang (D-43). The event, which runs on Nov. 21 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., is open to seniors 65 or older and is on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. There will be a choice of turkey or chicken, one per family. This free food distribution event is made possible by sponsors Zhanjiang Association of America Corp, ChefScape and Spreading Love. Seniors need to sign up before 5 p.m. on Nov. 20 on this form. The registration form provides the event address. This giveaway takes place as Zhuang’s Turkey Trot for Seniors is underway, in which she and her staff deliver hundreds of turkeys to senior centers and organizations throughout the 43rd District in anticipation of Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 28.

Senior centers that have already been visited include the Salvation Army Brooklyn Bensonhurst Corps Community Center, the Jewish Community House of Bensonhurst and the Federation of Italian American Organizations of Brooklyn. They will visit many more before Thanksgiving ends.
