CROWN HEIGHTS — A TEEN WHOSE jaw broke when the brakes of her rented Citi Bike failed has sued Citi Bike for $15 million in Brooklyn Federal Court, as well as operators Lyft Bikes and Scooters, LLC, reports the New York Post. According to the lawsuit, Akera Williams, 16, originally of Trinidad, was riding the bike along Eastern Parkway towards Nostrand Avenue when the brakes stopped working, while she was on a steep decline. Williams tried to use her feet to stop but was unable to, and slammed into a railing at the entrance of a subway station, breaking her jaw and her teeth.

Akera and her mother rented the bikes with a family friend, and retrieved them from the Citi Bike stock next to the Brooklyn Museum.
