CITYWIDE — THE ADAMS ADMINISTRATION on Thursday ordered all city government agencies to set up accounts on BlueSky, the social media platform that has seen rapid growth since President-elect Donald Trump’s election, the Daily News reports. Agencies won’t be posting on their new accounts until further details are ironed out, and the city — for now —  will retain its accounts on X, formerly known as Twitter, officials said. X has shed users by the thousands in recent months, over what many see as a surge in far-right rhetoric, misinformation and abusive posts since the platform was purchased by billionaire and Trump team member Elon Musk. BlueSky announced Tuesday that it had picked up one million new users since Trump’s election.

Among the latest news outlets to join BlueSky is the Guardian, which announced on Nov. 13 it was leaving X after determining the benefits of being on the platform were now outweighed by the negatives, citing the platform’s “often disturbing content.”
