Moms for Moms celebrates ten years of helping NYC mothers
CITYWIDE – LOCAL MATERNITY SUPPORT nonprofit Moms for Moms celebrated its 10th anniversary recently, and has launched a new giving campaign to expand its reach. Founded in 2014, the charity has provided essentials to more than 5,000 single mothers living in abusive, homeless and low-income situations, via direct donations and partnerships with care centers.
The group’s Newborn Baby Bundles and Postpartum Recovery Kits include short-term essentials like diapers and wipes, as well as long-term necessities like blankets, clothes and bottles. Many of these critical items are not covered by assistance programs like SNAP, WIC, and Medicaid. M4M addresses this gap to ensure no mother goes without, and to help begin the journey into motherhood with pride and dignity.
According to a press release from M4M, the need is critical: three out of four NYC single mothers live in poverty, nearly five times the rate that married couples do. Moms in need and prospective donors and volunteers can contact the group through their website, momsformomsnyc.org.
