FLATBUSH – BROOKLYN D.A. ERIC Gonzalez on Thursday announced that Flatbush man Mamadou Barry, 35, has been sentenced to 20 years to life for the second-degree murder of teenager Mamadou Bah, 19, in Prospect Park South in 2020. Barry was convicted of the crime last month in Brooklyn Supreme Court.

The D.A. said that on Feb. 18, 2020, Barry and Bah, both immigrants from Senegal, were hanging out with friends in front of an Ocean Avenue apartment building. Barry pulled a knife and approached Bah, who was backing away. Barry then plunged the knife deep into Bah’s chest, perforating his left lung and heart. Barry then chased the teen into a barbershop, where Bah asked employees to call his mother before being rushed to Kings County Hospital. He died during emergency surgery.

Police were subsequently able to identify Barry through surveillance footage, eyewitness statements and social media. He was arrested in Secaucus, New Jersey, on December 1, 2020.
